Buy traditional Japanese swords online

Traditional Japanese Swords

If you want to increase your collection of katana and weapons from the Far East, SwordsOfTheEast.com is your best resource. We pride ourselves on carrying functional katanas for sword enthusiasts and collectors. Because we want swordplay to be available to anyone interested we keep our prices low. Plus, if you find a sword cheaper at another store we'll beat the price by $10! Choose from:

  • Cold Steel
  • Hanwei by Paul Chen
  • Imperial Forge
  • Dynasty Forge

and more! In the past the sword was used in close and open combat. Because of the length and curvature on the blade it was mostly used in cutting, but thrusting is possible. Traditional Japanese swords are still used in the practice of martial arts. Both long and short blades are available here at low prices. Have fun shopping!

Functional katanas for sale

Functional Katanas

Once you have chosen the right katana for your collection or training you must have a few accessories. Because swords are made of metal they can rust or become damaged from use. To keep your sword in the best condition you should care for it regularly. Things like sword oil and maintenance kits are available here. There are also steps collectors should take to keep their traditional Japanese swords in good condition.

  • Store in sealed cases in high humidity areas
  • Store on metal or wood hooks in low humidity areas
  • Coat in oil once or twice per month
  • If displaying with blades exposed use thick wax

Of course storing your blades without their cases should not be done if children are present because these are weapons and can cause injury. Functional katanas are a wonderful addition to your collection. Make sure yours will last by taking the proper care from the time you buy it.
