Product Description

The tale of the Forty-seven Ronin, also known as the Forty-seven Samurai, the Ak vendetta, or the Genroku Ak incident took place in Japan at the start of the eighteenth century. The tale has been described by one noted Japanese scholar as the country's "national legend." It recounts the most famous case involving the samurai code of honor, bushid.
The story tells of a group of samurai who were left leaderless (becoming ronin) after their daimyo (feudal lord) was forced to commit seppuku (ritual suicide) for assaulting a court official named Kira Yoshinaka. The ronin avenged their master's honor after patiently waiting and planning for over a year to kill Kira. In turn, the ronin were themselves forced to commit seppuku for committing the crime of murder. With much embellishment, this true story was popularized in Japanese culture as emblematic of the loyalty, sacrifice, persistence, and honor that all good samurai should preserve in their daily lives. The popularity of the almost mythical tale was only enhanced by rapid modernization during the Meiji era of Japanese history, when it is suggested many people in Japan longed for a return to their cultural roots.

Ryumon has produced the 47 Ronin katana to commemorate this story of Lord Asano and his 47 Ronin.

I sharpened and stone polished this blade and it is incredible now. I do this to most everything. It took a while to get used to the balance but it is now one of my favorite cutters. For the price range it is quality steel. I am planning to purchase a fokded Ryumon after my experience here. SOTE is now my go to for my blade addiction.

I just received the Ryumon 47 Ronin as a gift from my wife and I could not believe the craftsmanship that went into this Steel. Every aspect of this tool is better than I expected considering the price. I have not had a chance to cut with it yet but I have no doubt that it will stand up to the task for years to come. I just became a regular customer to this supplier. Please pass on my sincere appreciation to everyone involved in the creation of this fine instrument.
Love it!

There were a lot of swords to choose from, and didn't know where to start. So James of S.O.T.E. suggested The Ryumon Forge, and a few swords of that forge. I bought this and was very pleased with the craftsmanship, weight, and the price. Very solid, all fittings tight and neat, no rattle or slop. Good blade, is solid and flex as to not break or take a set to the blade easily with 'normal' practices. It was well worth it! I now have 3 more on my 'wish list' from the Ryumon Forge and so does my girlfriend. Thanks a million James for the recommendation and the OUTSTANDING and friendly customer service!!!!!
you guys rock sote!
