Masahiro folded Katana

Howdy folks, I bought this Ikusa Katana for a friend as a beginner sword. Blade: The blade is real folded steel (1045 HC) with a nice balance and came pretty sharp. Has a nice Hada (grain) and nicely done geometry. The hamon is cosmetic. Tsuka: the tsuka came with a nice tight ito wrap, good feel to the hand with real same' and all fittings were and still are tight, The tsuba looks nice and has no sharp areas to bother your hand. The saya is nicely done in black lacquer with no flaws and fits tight to the habaki, no rattle. The sageo was wrapped a little loose (no biggie). All in all it is a very nice Katana that feels good in the hand and has decent balance. I said I bought this for a beginner cutter and this sword is forgiving. Several times he hit the wooden cutting stand at very bad angles and very hard. The sword suffered no real damage, but the blade did bend to the side a little both times. We were able to carefully bend it back to true. In my opinion the tempering on this sword is a little soft. But, that is a good thing for a beginner swordsman, those very bad strikes would have probably shattered a very hard (1095 steel) blade right off. So I recommend this as a well put together Katana with nice aesthetics and good handling. A nice starter sword or display. I would not try to cut, say a 2 inch bamboo or very hard targets, but bottles, noodles and jugs cut great. Very nice sword for the money and James has very good pricing, and customer service.
Very Nice Sword for the Price

This is my first purchase of a samurai sword and I am very much impressed with the weapon, especially for the very reasonable pricetag. As a long-time weapons and militaria collector, I appreciate the accurate description of the item and its quality along with the easy ordering and prompt delivery. I guarantee I will be a return customer. Only downside is that it did not come with a display box, but I knew that already from reading a review so no issue at all. Thanks!
Amazing sword

As it is written in the description, this sword needs to be seen to be truly appreciated. Just beautiful. In addition, Ikusa will cut everything you need to cut, Tatamis included. Only bad point, received in a cardboard box Ten Ryu, I knew they had bought Masahiro, but I do not know that I would not have a sword lined display box.
