The Bamboo Citadel Katana is a custom limited edition sword. Only 100 of these high quality katanas are made and each is signed with the smith's name and sword number. Every part of this katana is completely hand made. This sword is based on the traditional bamboo themed katana. It is made from 1074 high carbon steel and is light and fast. The blade is differentially hardened and has a bo-hi to make the sword lighter and more balanced, but still very strong. This sword is not only beautiful, but very effective. The pure iron tsuba is hand cut and engraved, even the nanako on the tsuba. This tsuba has copper seki-gane for a secure fitting blade, a small but rare detail. The hand carved handle features ray skin wrapped around the wooden core, and genuine Japanese silk wrapped around that. The saya has a black semi-gloss laquer finish, and a ray skin wrap near the opening for extra strength.
