Detailed Description

The Gustav Rapier replicates a weapon used by King Gustav Adolf II, who ruled Sweden in the early part of the 17th century. The shell guard of the rapier is unusual but effective. The rapier has classical lines made with a high-carbon steel flex-tempered blade, and a stainless steel hilt (that gives reduced maintenance) with a "blade catcher" quillons and a twisted-wire grip. The hilt is the same size as the original, which gives an authentic “feel” in the user’s hand and weight and balance are the same as the originals. The blade can be interchanged with our “Practical” blade (OH2255) which is made for safety in rapier sparring. The matching Main Gauche (SH2209) can also be equipped with a sparring blade.
