Detailed Description
Hand-forged from 1095/1080 high-carbon steel and 1060 spring steel and folded 8-12 times, the 27.5" blade exhibits all the aesthetic qualities of the traditional Japanese sword.
Clay-tempered and hybrid polished, the Hamon and Hada are revealed in the surface of the steel. Based on an antique, the historical precursor of the Katana, the Kogarasu-Maru has a unique geometry.
The blade is fitted with a Koi Tsuba, turbulent wave Fuchi-Kashira and a pair of Dragon Menuki. The 10.5" Tsuka is wrapped in black silk Ito over genuine ray-skin panels. The Saya is finished in an elegant two-tone black lacquer.
