This traditonally constructed blade pays homage to one of the most influential and famous swordmasters in the history of Japan, Miyamoto Musashi. In fact, the very concept of fighting with the Daito and wakizashi together is attributed to this master, whose notably famous "Book of Five Rings" written circa 1645 is considered a classic treatise on miltary strategy and is still studied today for its philosophical and technical expertise.
This Japanese katana is a faithful interpretation of the original; it is mounted in black and is highlighted by the famous "double ring" tsuba made of iron. The blade is a hand forged 1065 high-carbon steel with blade geometry that has been redesigned to enhance cutting power. A beautiful hamon is prominantly featured resulting from the traditional claying techinique to temper the steel. the result is a gorgeous and functional cutting katana with a HRC60 edge hardness and a HRC40 back. A double-pegged tsuka gives strength and stability, with good gripping characteristics due to the authentic rayskin same' wrapped in black leather. A protective cloth sword bag and traditional maintenance kit are included to complete a great offering from Cas/Hanwei.
